Wedding Planning In Santa Fe Made Easy!

Let’s find your perfect venue and vendors that will reflect “your” vision of your Santa Fe wedding.

Along with creating and officiating a beautiful meaningful wedding ceremony for couples, I have now begun to use my 28years of wedding experience to assist couples in their wedding planning.  Serving in “making it all a simple process” for couples to find their perfect location and  vendors.  What I like to do is “hear” from you what you envision; “listening” to you describe your perfect day.  I will then, with conversation and agreement, check on the availability of locations and vendors for your wedding date, set up appointments for you to visit, and go with you if you would like. I am then happy to answer any questions and offer any information from my experience to help you make your decisions.

In this way, you can save time in searching for not only your perfect location, but your florist, photographer, cake, hair and makeup and other essentials.  My fees are by the hour, so you can use my experience in Santa Fe wedding planning as little or as much as meets your comfortability with planning yourself.

If you want more services than I can offer, I will certainly refer you to other wedding planners here in Santa Fe that can meet your further needs. I am happy to assist in this way, whether I am your minister/wedding officiant, or if you have another.

For some couples, just a little help leading in the right direction is enough, and I am happy to serve you in this capacity, as well as create and officiate your perfectly envisioned wedding here in our Land of Enchantment and City Different!

Fall Can Be Santa Fe’s Biggest Wedding Season.

Many are surprised by our luscious colorful Fall here in Santa Fe.  Our Aspens, Cottonwoods, Elms, and even a few Maples, grace our town with hues of yellows, golds and reds.  And most days are still warm; sometimes even into November, with our New Mexico sun heating our 7000ft. town.  Outside venues for an intimate or large wedding are generous here, with options to move inside, if your day becomes a forecast of winter to come.

An Outside Winter Wedding in Santa Fe is Very “Santa Fe”!

Sunset in winter is romantic and has us wearing our Navajo coats or wrapping in a Navajo blanket.

You may be surprised how many couples want to get married outside in the winter in Santa Fe.  For this beautiful couple we incorporated the Navajo Blanket Ceremony right at sunset.  They chose this location at Fort Marcy Park (see blog on Fort Marcy Park) to celebrate with about 8 of their family and friends.  Everyone walked from La Fonda where they were staying and took the many steps up to this location in the park called The Cross of the Martyrs.  One can also drive up to the top. Normally there would probably be snow, but not this year! At least not yet!

Historic Fort Marcy Park with The Cross of the Martyrs Overlooks Santa Fe

Overlooking downtown Santa Fe with beautiful sky and unforgettable sunsets.

One of our historic locations is Fort Marcy Park, part of which is on a hill overlooking downtown Santa Fe. In this park is a location called Cross of the Martyrs which is a newer version of the original location in an older area. One can walk up to it from a stairway on Paseo de Peralta, or drive to the top, park and walk the paved path with markers telling the story of Fort Marcy.

The park is large and there are other more natural places for your wedding.  There is no fee for a small intimate wedding.  For a larger wedding one would need to contact the city.

A natural High Desert location above our beautiful city is Fort Marcy Park. Many locals use this park to run, walk their dogs or just view our spectacular sunsets. It  can be a sweet place to find some “quiet” after a busy day being a tourist downtown.

Albuquerque Couples – “Welcome To Santa Fe for Your Wedding!”

A gifted joint ” wedding officiating” at our Tibetan Stupa with one of the Holy resident Lamas. A true honor!

Although there are many wonderful Albuquerque Wedding Officiants and beautiful places to get married in Albuquerque, many couples enjoy a totally different wedding ceremony experience just one hour’s drive north.

It is so romantic to spend the night in one of Santa Fe’s beautiful hotels, hotel spas or quaint inns and get married on their property, your balcony or patio. Or you can “Airbnb it” and I will help you find a beautiful fun location where I can officiate your wedding.  And you may just make it a day trip with your wedding ceremony followed by a lovely lunch or dinner at one of our many special restaurants.  We have lovely parks and  a few galleries that welcome the couple and their witnesses for an intimate ceremony.  View my blog Outdoor Wedding Venues in New Mexico to see photos of two of our lovely parks.  And yes, possibly, get married on our plaza!

New Mexico Marriage Laws for Getting a New Mexico Marriage License

The New Mexico County Clerk in Santa Fe is just a walk from the Plaza.

Marriage at any age is a gift, and our wonderful county clerk’s office cheered for Ed and Carol!

Getting a marriage license in Santa Fe New Mexico is easy, and our County Clerk’s staff will welcome all couples with smiles and quick easy service. So many couples have expressed to me how friendly and helpful the people at the County Clerk’s office are; always expressing their congratulatory enthusiasm!  If you are staying at any of our downtown hotels, the office is an easy walk from the plaza.  There is some pay parking out front and a pay parking lot across the street as well as street parking.   It is wise to call ahead if you only have a Friday to get your license and it is a holiday weekend, as they might be closed. You can get your New Mexico marriage license and get married on the same day.

If your home is another country, it is wise to check if or how a US marriage license is or can be legal in your home country. Most Texas marriage licenses are legal to be used in New Mexico.  However, it is wise to check with your Texas county to be sure.

So here are the logistics:

  • phone: 505-986-6280
  • address: 102 Grant Ave.
  • time open: 8am to 5pm, Monday-Friday
  • photo ID required – US driver’s license or Passport if not US citizen
  • know your Social Security number
  • $25.00 Cash
  • must be 18 years of age – If younger call for information on parental permission.
  • You may get your marriage license in any county in New Mexico and get married in any other county.  You must return your New Mexico marriage license to the county from where it was issued.
  • Albuquerque County Clerk’s Office – 505-768-4314

Outdoor Wedding Venues in New Mexico

Santa Fe Weddings Can be a Fun Adventure!

Under the old Cottonwood tree at our downtown Santa Fe Federal Park is a lovely spot for your intimate wedding.

In Santa Fe we do have some lovely public parks that can be perfect for your intimate ceremony.  All you need are two witnesses, and you may find them there. We just show up! We also have some galleries that will allow me to meet the couple for an intimate wedding. We still carefully create your personal ceremony, and I am happy to take photos for you with your camera or recommend a photographer who can also be a witness.

Santa Fe’s Rose Park is so beautiful when blooming! The bride can even walk up the aisle!

Hotel Santa Fe Has an Open Covered Area for Your Wedding and Reception.

Your guests are in the shade, in the “cool”, enjoying  your wedding ceremony on the beautiful lawn.
Setting up for the reception. After the ceremony the chairs are removed for “Dancing”!
Hotel Santa Fe now offers this lovely venue where your wedding can have the luxury of the inside and outside. There is a fireplace and the iconic teepee on the other side of the lawn. This is a wonderful location for a medium size wedding. Their guest rooms are pleasant with Native American accents. Eloping to Santa Fe or Your Vow Renewal – “Just the Two of You”

So many choices for a fun intimate wedding in Santa Fe, when it is just the two of you!

Dress up, dress down, wear a wedding gown, wear jeans and cowboy boots, go shopping here and pick out your wedding outfits; whatever your heart desires.  You can even buy your wedding rings under the portal on the square where our Native American jewelers sell their fine pieces, or from many other unique jewelers we are graced to have here in Santa Fe. Your elopement or vow renewal in Santa Fe is the chance for you to just “be yourselves”.

All of our resort hotels offer small outside and inside locations for a small wedding. Some hotels have smaller rooms like a library.  Many times the B&B or the house or casita you are renting has a lovely garden.  Some of our galleries also offer their gardens for an elopement. And we have a lovely Botanical Garden.

With a fun drive up toward or to our ski basin, one can find their special spot. One of my favorites was a couple who wanted to get married at our Dog Park, where their dog would not need to be leashed.  Our Dog Park is quite large and has a spot with a great view of the city.  We have a Rose Park, a Federal Park, The Cross of the Martyrs Park, all lovely locations.  And of course for these locations there is no rental fee.

You will need two witnesses to sign the marriage license.  If you bring two of your special friends, it can add to your wedding celebration, and one can be your photographer, if you do not want a professional.  And if you do not have two witnesses, I can bring two for you with an extra fee for their time. At our resort hotels, hotel, and most B&B’s, two employees are always willing to sign as witnesses.

Something to consider, if you will be in Santa Fe for a few days or a week, is the timing of your wedding or vow renewal.  Some couples like to get married on their first or second day and have the rest of their stay be their honeymoon.  Others prefer to spend their first days getting ready for their wedding and shopping, being tourists, and have their wedding the day before they leave. Either choice has a different “flow” for your stay.

With so many choices, you may want to view the locations and referral pdf,  on this site, and or call me and we can talk more about what would be fun and meaningful for you.

It has been my experience over these 27 years of serving couples’ weddings and vow renewals, as their officiant here in Santa Fe, that their wedding ceremony, with 200 guests or no guests, is still created and graced with the same joy, reverence, fun and meaning. Always special! Always memorable!
