Hotel Santa Fe now offers this lovely venue where your wedding can have the luxury of the inside and outside. There is a fireplace and the iconic teepee on the other side of the lawn. This is a wonderful location for a medium size wedding. Their guest rooms are pleasant with Native American accents. This intimate hotel offers all you need for a lovely Santa Fe wedding and is close to the downtown plaza.
One of the newer and larger indoor wedding venues, here in Santa Fe NM, is the wedding chapel at the Eldorado Hotel, in downtown Santa Fe, on our historic San Francisco Street. With white marble floors, white seating and straight architectural lines, creating a contemporary feel, is this golden wooden carved altar bringing in a historical old antiquity feel. The recessed lighting can change in color to add any “hue” one desires. “Starkness” blended with “Ornateness” was my first impression and a good one! I have officiated weddings here at Christmas, with red poinsettias gracing the altar, and weddings, like the photo, where the white ambiance is accented with white lilies and a hint of lavender hue.
Next to the chapel is an elegant large dressing room with full length mirrors and makeup counters. You will really feel like a queen and king on your special day!
David Stone, one of Santa Fe’s “best” with wedding co-ordinating, is the sales and catering manager who will make sure your day is perfect! Having worked with him as the wedding officiant/minister for many years, I can promise you this.
I have also noticed, when officiating weddings in this lovely chapel, that the acoustics for myself, as the minister, and the music are very good. The lifted altar makes for perfect visibility of your “beautiful happy selves” and your wedding party for all your guests – no matter if seated far or near.
A beautiful contemporary ballroom is close by for your reception with cocktail hour in the adjacent newly decorated lobby.
So many choices for a fun intimate wedding in Santa Fe, when it is just the two of you!
Dress up, dress down, wear a wedding gown, wear jeans and cowboy boots, go shopping here and pick out your wedding outfits; whatever your heart desires. You can even buy your wedding rings under the portal on the square where our Native American jewelers sell their fine pieces, or from many other unique jewelers we are graced to have here in Santa Fe. Your elopement or vow renewal in Santa Fe is the chance for you to just “be yourselves”.
All of our resort hotels offer small outside and inside locations for a small wedding. Some hotels have smaller rooms like a library. Many times the B&B or the house or casita you are renting has a lovely garden. Some of our galleries also offer their gardens for an elopement. And we have a lovely Botanical Garden.
With a fun drive up toward or to our ski basin, one can find their special spot. One of my favorites was a couple who wanted to get married at our Dog Park, where their dog would not need to be leashed. Our Dog Park is quite large and has a spot with a great view of the city. We have a Rose Park, a Federal Park, The Cross of the Martyrs Park, all lovely locations. And of course for these locations there is no rental fee.
You will need two witnesses to sign the marriage license. If you bring two of your special friends, it can add to your wedding celebration, and one can be your photographer, if you do not want a professional. And if you do not have two witnesses, I can bring two for you with an extra fee for their time. At our resort hotels, hotel, and most B&B’s, two employees are always willing to sign as witnesses.
Something to consider, if you will be in Santa Fe for a few days or a week, is the timing of your wedding or vow renewal. Some couples like to get married on their first or second day and have the rest of their stay be their honeymoon. Others prefer to spend their first days getting ready for their wedding and shopping, being tourists, and have their wedding the day before they leave. Either choice has a different “flow” for your stay.
With so many choices, you may want to view the locations and referral pdf, on this site, and or call me and we can talk more about what would be fun and meaningful for you.
It has been my experience over these 27 years of serving couples’ weddings and vow renewals, as their officiant here in Santa Fe, that their wedding ceremony, with 200 guests or no guests, is still created and graced with the same joy, reverence, fun and meaning. Always special! Always memorable!
On our historic Canyon Rd., along with its many galleries, is a historic foundation site called El Zaguan with a lovely old house and victorian style garden. It is a lovely place for a small intimate wedding. The whole atmosphere says “sweetness”.
Not only is their New Mexican Food Great; The Wedding View is Spectacular.
This is a wonderful venue for and intimate outdoor wedding, with your wedding lunch or dinner on the patio or inside.
The circular outside fire pit has lovely views of mountains and sky and more sky.
Most couples want to get married outside in Santa Fe, even in the winter, as our sky is so blue and our vistas so grand. One of the best places for beautiful views is The Four Seasons Encantado, outside of Santa Fe proper. They have lovely accommodations, and if you are already staying somewhere else, we still can have your ceremony there, and you can celebrate with breakfast, lunch or dinner on their lovely patio, with the same lovely views, or inside which is just as lovely! You might also want to view the “post” Intimate Setting Outside or Inside at Four Seasons Encantado Santa Fe NM.
Wed, Dine, Party and Honeymoon all in one lovely environment in downtown Santa Fe!
View the photos below, and you can see that a lovely ceremony can be held in front of the patio doors, in front of the fireplace, or out on the patio with the wonderful view of the Santa Fe Mountains. Then your dinner, catered by the hotel, can be a sit down in the dining area. I have had some light food and one dinner after a wedding ceremony, and found the food to be quite good. The hotel staff was quietly attentive, and was willing to quickly serve up a champagne toast for the “Irish Blessing ” at the end of the ceremony.
Not shown is the full kitchen and lovely bedroom upstairs from the kitchen. The bride can make her entrance from the bedroom spiral staircase into the dining room, and to the fireplace, or where more guests can be seated, in front of the patio doors. If you want a patio wedding, and I have seen it decorated quite beautifully, the bride can also enter from a staircase below. I just officiated a wonderful wedding here with about 25 guests. Besides the dinner table you see, another was set up in the living room.
This is one of my favorite places to officiate a small wedding because of its versatility and the wonderful views. You will even hear the hourly bells from the St. Francis Cathedral not far away. If you call the hotel, ask for Evelyn and she will co-ordinate it all for you!
Santa Fe is one of the most appreciated locations for a destination wedding or elopement. I have always believed that one of the unspoken reasons is It’s “intimacy”. Many couples have met here, become engaged here, have had memorable adventures while traveling through. One of the couple may have spent precious moments of their lives growing up here and moving on, or coming for holidays with family and friends. What makes our city named The City Different, “intimate”?
I would say “she”, Santa Fe, “City of Faith”, reaches out to create a very personal relationship with each visitor and resident. We still look up to the tourquoise blue sky with awe, knowing even on the coldest of days it will bring a peaceful smile. Our Mountains are our refuge for a walk or climb, exercise for our dogs and ourselves, personal contemplation time, and closeness to our Creator through nature. Nature continues to reveal her beauty and splendor to many atop our ski basin and the sense of “flying” through her gifted “powder”. And rainbows; well, we still call/text our family and friends to “look up” and count our blessings. Our great St. Francis Cathedral, centered in our downtown, opens its doors to all, welcoming for a liturgy, an afternoon alone meditation or a Christmas community concert. On St. Francis’ sacred name-day the priest comes out to bless our pets! We are of many faiths and no faith, many cultures and chosen lifestyles, of economic and educational backgrounds and choices up and down the ladder. Our many and varied restaurants, coffee houses and lodging are a reflection of this diversity. You will find, upon investigation, that our wedding venues are just as unique and offer many style choices, historic and contemporary.
I guess you could label us “diverse proud”, even though we are still aware we can always do better in this area. We welcome our guests to come “fit” right in with us, and we want you to feel at home! We want your wedding whether large or just the two of you to have in its reality and memory the feeling of this “intimacy” which is one of the reasons why many of us just can’t think of another place we would prefer to live!
Four Seasons Encantado offers this lovely setting for an elopement or small wedding. I officiated Kelly and Bill’s wedding outside on this intimate patio, with views of the Jemez Mountains. There are heaters on the patio for the winter. Adjacent to the patio is a small room with a fireplace. If the weather is too cold or if there is rain, your ceremony can be in front of the fireplace or in front of the open patio doors. A private lunch or dinner can be held in this room as well as your wedding. Miranda May, whose enthusiasm for each couple to experience their perfect wedding matches mine, is the wedding consultant who will help set all of this up for you. Cake and champagne too!
