The Inn of the Anasazi is one of Santa Fe’s most intimate downtown hotels with the ultimate in serving their guests with the best. And this courteous and helpfulness is extended for your intimate wedding by offering their living room which is totally private. Most weddings I officiate here are just the couple or with their witnesses. However, I would say the room can hold about 10-12 guests if standing. I have officiated a wedding in this room where the hotel set up a beautiful private dining area in the adjacent library for the guests. You can also have a private dinner for the two of you in the living room after your ceremony. The restaurant at the Anasazi will not disappoint.
The Four Seasons Encantado in Santa Fe offers not only beautiful southwest designed accommodations, but one of the most lovely experiences of being in our precious “high desert!” They offer multiple locations for an intimate “just the two of you” wedding.
This winter I officiated a wedding inside their lovely teepee. The wind was rather cold so we opted to “climb in”. The cozy atmosphere, with the wind blowing outside, added a womb like loving quality to the words and feelings of the “I dos!”
With the sun mostly always shining here in Santa Fe, a wedding just out front of the teepee is special too any time of the year. When you stay at the Four Seasons, you can choose from various locations for your intimate wedding. Most are shown on my blog, or call me and I am happy to describe the beauty of each.
You may be surprised how many couples want to get married outside in the winter in Santa Fe. For this beautiful couple we incorporated the Navajo Blanket Ceremony right at sunset. They chose this location at Fort Marcy Park (see blog on Fort Marcy Park) to celebrate with about 8 of their family and friends. Everyone walked from La Fonda where they were staying and took the many steps up to this location in the park called The Cross of the Martyrs. One can also drive up to the top. Normally there would probably be snow, but not this year! At least not yet!
One of our historic locations is Fort Marcy Park, part of which is on a hill overlooking downtown Santa Fe. In this park is a location called Cross of the Martyrs which is a newer version of the original location in an older area. One can walk up to it from a stairway on Paseo de Peralta, or drive to the top, park and walk the paved path with markers telling the story of Fort Marcy.
The park is large and there are other more natural places for your wedding. There is no fee for a small intimate wedding. For a larger wedding one would need to contact the city.
A natural High Desert location above our beautiful city is Fort Marcy Park. Many locals use this park to run, walk their dogs or just view our spectacular sunsets. It can be a sweet place to find some “quiet” after a busy day being a tourist downtown.
Although there are many wonderful Albuquerque Wedding Officiants and beautiful places to get married in Albuquerque, many couples enjoy a totally different wedding ceremony experience just one hour’s drive north.
It is so romantic to spend the night in one of Santa Fe’s beautiful hotels, hotel spas or quaint inns and get married on their property, your balcony or patio. Or you can “Airbnb it” and I will help you find a beautiful fun location where I can officiate your wedding. And you may just make it a day trip with your wedding ceremony followed by a lovely lunch or dinner at one of our many special restaurants. We have lovely parks and a few galleries that welcome the couple and their witnesses for an intimate ceremony. View my blog Outdoor Wedding Venues in New Mexico to see photos of two of our lovely parks. And yes, possibly, get married on our plaza!
Santa Fe Weddings Can be a Fun Adventure!
In Santa Fe we do have some lovely public parks that can be perfect for your intimate ceremony. All you need are two witnesses, and you may find them there. We just show up! We also have some galleries that will allow me to meet the couple for an intimate wedding. We still carefully create your personal ceremony, and I am happy to take photos for you with your camera or recommend a photographer who can also be a witness.
Hotel Santa Fe now offers this lovely venue where your wedding can have the luxury of the inside and outside. There is a fireplace and the iconic teepee on the other side of the lawn. This is a wonderful location for a medium size wedding. Their guest rooms are pleasant with Native American accents. This intimate hotel offers all you need for a lovely Santa Fe wedding and is close to the downtown plaza.
One of the newer and larger indoor wedding venues, here in Santa Fe NM, is the wedding chapel at the Eldorado Hotel, in downtown Santa Fe, on our historic San Francisco Street. With white marble floors, white seating and straight architectural lines, creating a contemporary feel, is this golden wooden carved altar bringing in a historical old antiquity feel. The recessed lighting can change in color to add any “hue” one desires. “Starkness” blended with “Ornateness” was my first impression and a good one! I have officiated weddings here at Christmas, with red poinsettias gracing the altar, and weddings, like the photo, where the white ambiance is accented with white lilies and a hint of lavender hue.
Next to the chapel is an elegant large dressing room with full length mirrors and makeup counters. You will really feel like a queen and king on your special day!
David Stone, one of Santa Fe’s “best” with wedding co-ordinating, is the sales and catering manager who will make sure your day is perfect! Having worked with him as the wedding officiant/minister for many years, I can promise you this.
I have also noticed, when officiating weddings in this lovely chapel, that the acoustics for myself, as the minister, and the music are very good. The lifted altar makes for perfect visibility of your “beautiful happy selves” and your wedding party for all your guests – no matter if seated far or near.
A beautiful contemporary ballroom is close by for your reception with cocktail hour in the adjacent newly decorated lobby.
So many choices for a fun intimate wedding in Santa Fe, when it is just the two of you!
Dress up, dress down, wear a wedding gown, wear jeans and cowboy boots, go shopping here and pick out your wedding outfits; whatever your heart desires. You can even buy your wedding rings under the portal on the square where our Native American jewelers sell their fine pieces, or from many other unique jewelers we are graced to have here in Santa Fe. Your elopement or vow renewal in Santa Fe is the chance for you to just “be yourselves”.
All of our resort hotels offer small outside and inside locations for a small wedding. Some hotels have smaller rooms like a library. Many times the B&B or the house or casita you are renting has a lovely garden. Some of our galleries also offer their gardens for an elopement. And we have a lovely Botanical Garden.
With a fun drive up toward or to our ski basin, one can find their special spot. One of my favorites was a couple who wanted to get married at our Dog Park, where their dog would not need to be leashed. Our Dog Park is quite large and has a spot with a great view of the city. We have a Rose Park, a Federal Park, The Cross of the Martyrs Park, all lovely locations. And of course for these locations there is no rental fee.
You will need two witnesses to sign the marriage license. If you bring two of your special friends, it can add to your wedding celebration, and one can be your photographer, if you do not want a professional. And if you do not have two witnesses, I can bring two for you with an extra fee for their time. At our resort hotels, hotel, and most B&B’s, two employees are always willing to sign as witnesses.
Something to consider, if you will be in Santa Fe for a few days or a week, is the timing of your wedding or vow renewal. Some couples like to get married on their first or second day and have the rest of their stay be their honeymoon. Others prefer to spend their first days getting ready for their wedding and shopping, being tourists, and have their wedding the day before they leave. Either choice has a different “flow” for your stay.
With so many choices, you may want to view the locations and referral pdf, on this site, and or call me and we can talk more about what would be fun and meaningful for you.
It has been my experience over these 27 years of serving couples’ weddings and vow renewals, as their officiant here in Santa Fe, that their wedding ceremony, with 200 guests or no guests, is still created and graced with the same joy, reverence, fun and meaning. Always special! Always memorable!
On our historic Canyon Rd., along with its many galleries, is a historic foundation site called El Zaguan with a lovely old house and victorian style garden. It is a lovely place for a small intimate wedding. The whole atmosphere says “sweetness”.
